School Fundraising with Family Canoe Adventures and Costa Rica Rainforest Educational Adventure at Morgan’s Jungle Lodge!

Adventures In Learning

At Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures, our goal is to promote river education, and environmental awareness through safe and fun river recreation.

Utilizing our “floating classrooms”, (8-10 persons/per 14-foot non-capsizable rafts, plus instructor), students will learn how to paddle into isolated sections of the river, inaccessible by almost any other means. The students will learn to appreciate the unique characteristics of the river environment. The “appreciation factor” makes a perfect bridge for developing the many learning possibilities and creates a desire for the students to learn.

Costa Rica Rainforest and Beach Adventure

Your class can visit Morgan’s Jungle Lodge in Costa Rica! Let us explain how easy it would be to take a group from your school to the tropical beaches of the Osa Peninsula for the learning experience of a lifetime. Rainforest, endangered species, Latin culture, marine biology, ornithology and Spanish language study are some of the many options to choose from for your group's Costa Rican Experience!

Fundraising with Family Canoeing Adventures

Morgan’s is introducing a great new way to make big $ for your school by selling Family Canoeing Adventures. The bottom line will not only surprise you but this program will generate the needed revenue for your club, class or enable you to take your own group to a Costa Rican Adventure or just fund your ongoing programs. Morgan’s will provide your group with the brochures and certificates needed to enable a successful fundraising campaign as you spread the joys that a family canoe trip has to offer!

Eco-Float

Rivers are the ecosystems that tell us most effectively how man's interface with his environment is occurring. Stream Quality Monitoring is a series of procedures that enable students to determine how plants and animals on a macroscopic level are coping with “environmental stress”. Students, using the “kick seine method”, combined with chemical analysis, will learn to asses the rivers in a scientific manner. Morgan’s utilizes the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Stream Quality Monitoring Program. Our Eco-Float Program is fun and also accomplishes goals on the Ohio Proficiency Tests such as graph reading and utilizing scientific procedures. The Eco-Float Program can be modified for any age group from pre-school to high school.

Paddle into History Float

What if your students could experience how history was made? Students will experience how it feels to paddle through the ancient earthworks of the Hopewell and Adena cultures of prehistoric man. As the class meanders down river from Ft. Ancient, they will participate in discussions and demonstrations about Ohio’s first inhabitants, the Paleo-Indian, who thrived on the rivers. Our Paddle into History Float will provide your students with many fond memories and a better understanding and perspective of the Native Americans and their relationship with the river. As with all of our programs, a river safety program precedes the start of the river voyage.

Introduction to Paddle Sports 101

An American Canoe Association Instructor will teach your students the basic skills they need to safely enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. The adventure begins with an in-school safety lecture that will outline; proper attire, the proper way to fit your lifejacket, what to bring on a river trip.

When your class arrives at the livery on trip day, they will have an on shore safety briefing and be introduced to the three types of crafts that we will be paddling, canoes, kayaks and rafts. After the on-shore portion of the program the class will disembark with our instructor and practice their newly learned techniques. Introduction to Paddle sports 101, is a unique approach to basic paddling techniques and has a much broader scope than a traditional canoeing trip. This is a great opportunity perfectly positioned for physical and environmental education groups. This program is designed for the total novice but can be modified for all levels.
